The adelaide french languagE meetup

The Adelaide French Language Meetup (AFLM) is a group which provides opportunities for all local French-speakers - whether maternal speakers or those who have acquired French linguistic skills - to meet up for French conversation and cultural events, while also providing a platform for learners of the French language to meetup with others who are learning or speak French.

As a group, our aim is to use the language by meeting and engaging in various activities, at as low a cost as possible to members. In order to do this we:

·        develop and further French language and cultural activities in Adelaide as well as the surrounding region of South Australia;

·        provide meetup events that offer members a friendly and supportive environment for learning, developing and sharing French language and cultural information including conversational skills;

·        share information within the AFLM group of francophone or francophile events, resources and networks, and

·        practise respectful, courteous and inclusive communication among members and the wider community.

We have regular and occasional meetings. Our regular meetings include:

·        Weekend conversation meetings at various cafés grouped according to level

·        Twice monthly drinks at a city bar – advanced and fluent speakers

·        Monthly brunches – all levels

·        Weekly yoga – all levels (due to commence May 2016)

·        Weekly Zumba – all levels (due to commence May 2016)

We schedule group outings to French plays, films, musical performances, cheese and wine tastings as well as take the opportunity to celebrate some traditional French customs and activities e.g. La Galette des Rois, le 14 juillet, etc

We are very open-minded, eager to get to know you and welcome cultural diversity in its broadest sense, as it will spark more conversation topics along the way.
